Metal festivals in Spain 2027: dates, first names and how to plan your summer

We've barely shaken this summer's dust off our boots and the festivals have already set their 2027 dates. If you plan your holidays around a line-up, now is the time: early bird passes disappear fast (Resurrection Fest's sold out in 24 hours) and the first confirmations already hint at the summer ahead.

Here are Spain's big metal festivals in calendar order, with everything we know as of late September 2026. We'll keep this guide updated as new bands are announced — and you can browse every concert and festival of the season in the Metalendario calendar.

June: Z! Live Rock Fest (Zamora)

2027 dates: 17–19 June Where: IFEZA fairground, Zamora (see venue) Style: classic heavy, power, folk and melodic metal, plus Spanish rock

Z! Live has earned its reputation as a comfortable, well-run festival with line-ups tailor-made for heavy and power metal fans. In 2026 Zamora welcomed Twisted Sister, Saxon, Emperor and Soziedad Alkoholika, and 2027 already has some heavyweight confirmations:

• Edguy, in a farewell show
• Stratovarius
• Korpiklaani
• Conception with Roy Khan
• The Night Flight Orchestra, Virgin Steele and Trollfest

For reference, the 2026 pass cost €130 plus fees. If power metal is your thing, this is probably the best-rounded line-up of early summer. More shows in town on our Zamora page.

Late June: Resurrection Fest (Viveiro, Lugo)

2027 dates: 30 June – 3 July Where: Celeiro, Viveiro (Lugo, Galicia) Style: a bit of everything: metal, hardcore, punk, nu metal, stoner and alternative

Resurrection is the giant of the north. Four days, four stages (Main, Ritual, Chaos and Desert) and a 2026 edition its organisers called the biggest in their history, with Iron Maiden, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson, Sabaton, Anthrax and Mastodon.

The 2027 edition is titled Chapter XXII – Built To Last and has no bands announced yet — which stopped nobody: all 10,000 early bird passes (€195 standard and €295 Pandemonium, fees included) sold out within a day. If you missed them, keep an eye out for the next batch. There's camping on site, including paid areas sold separately.

Early July: Barcelona Rock Fest and Rock Imperium

The first week of July 2027 will force some tough choices, with two strong festivals at opposite ends of the country.

Barcelona Rock Fest (Santa Coloma de Gramenet)

2027 dates: 1–4 July (four days for the first time!) Where: Parc de Can Zam (see venue) Style: hard rock, classic heavy, power, thrash and punk rock

After a tenth edition with Megadeth, Helloween, Sabaton, The Offspring and Powerwolf, BRF grows to four days. No bands yet, but passes have been on sale since July 2026 (the 2026 pass was €205, and under-13s got in free). There's no camping: it's an urban park with a metro connection to Barcelona. Rock Imperium Festival (Cartagena)

2027 dates: 2–4 July Where: Parque de la Cuesta del Batel, by the harbour Style: classic heavy, power, thrash and symphonic

Few festivals have a setting like this: stages by the sea with the city a short walk away. For 2027 they've announced Helloween (40th anniversary show), Children of Bodom, Mayhem, Venom and Erik Grönwall — all except Helloween as their only Spanish date. The 2026 pass started at €195 in its first price tier. For accommodation, check the official website before booking: the festival has worked with partner hotels and shuttle buses, and nearby camping options change from year to year.

August: Leyendas del Rock (Villena, Alicante)

2027 dates: 11–14 August Where: Villena (Alicante) Style: classic heavy, power, folk and melodic metal, with more modern bands every year

Leyendas has the most advanced 2027 line-up of all, with more than 25 bands confirmed under the motto Unbreakable. The headliners are:

• Mercyful Fate, in their only Spanish date
• Architects
• Saxon

They're joined by Halestorm, Skillet, Alestorm, Doro, Therion, DevilDriver, Amaranthe, Dethklok, Saltatio Mortis and Wind Rose, among others. For reference, the four-day pass cost €199 in 2026, with shaded camping and pool access sold as extras. This is the ultimate heatwave festival: water, sunscreen and a hat are not optional.

And in spring: Viña Rock (Villarrobledo)

It's not a pure metal festival, but it would be unfair to leave it out. Viña Rock mixes rock, punk, rap metal and Spanish fusion, and in 2027 it celebrates its 30th anniversary from 29 April to 1 May in Villarrobledo (Albacete). Around 100,000 people attended in 2026. If your punk and crossover side is also itching for action, note it down.

What about Tsunami Xixón?

The Asturian festival, focused on punk, hardcore and stoner, cancelled its 2026 edition ("A pause on the road") and hasn't announced a comeback yet. Its organisers have said it will only return when it can do so in a big way. We'll let you know if anything changes.

Tips for planning your festival summer

1. Buy early if the line-up doesn't matter to you. Early bird passes are always the cheapest option and, at festivals like Resurrection, they sell out before a single band is announced.
2. Wait for the line-up if you're after specific bands. Z! Live and Leyendas have shown their hand; Resurrection and Barcelona Rock Fest haven't yet.
3. Book accommodation before your pass. In Viveiro, Villena or Cartagena, beds go as soon as the dates are out.
4. Watch out for clashes. Resurrection, Barcelona Rock Fest and Rock Imperium fall in practically the same week in 2027.
5. Check the club circuit in the off-season. Many festival bands tour smaller venues in autumn and winter, with cheaper tickets and much closer to home. Find them on our concert map.
